Anita Ekberg

Marianne Ekberg (Swedish pronunciation (listen), 29 September 1931 - 11 January
2015) was an Swedish actress, famous for her stunning shape and beauty. The
role she played as Sylvia in Federico Federlini's film La Dolce Vita (1960)
became well-known. Ekberg worked primarily in Italy, where she became permanent
residents in 1964.Anita Ekberg was born on 29 September 1931, in (Sweden) and
was the sixth child of eight. Anita was a fashion model during her teens. As
per the requests from her mother Ekberg entered Miss Malmo in 1950. She won the
Miss Sweden contest. Even though she spoke very little English she travelled to
America to compete in the Miss Universe 1951 title. This was an unofficial
pageant at the time. The pageant was officially made official in 1952. Ekberg
was not the winner of the Miss Universe pageant. However she was one of six
semi-finalists. Universal Studios offered her an opportunity to be a starlet.
She was an Universal starlet who received instruction in dramatization,
elocution dancing horses, horseback riding, and elocution. She was briefly
featured in The Mississippi Gambler (1953), Abbott and Costello Go to Mars
(1953) (playing a woman on Venus), Take Me to Town (1953), and The Golden Blade
(1953).
