Melanie Jayne Lynskey

Melanie Jayne Lynskey, born on the 16th of May, 1977 is a New Zealand actress. She is known for her unique character, soft-spoken and strong. She mostly appears in independent films. Her accolades include a New Zealand Film Award, an Hollywood Film Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award, in addition to Gotham Award, Golden Nymph Award Critics' Choice Award and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Lynskey made her debut in film as an aspiring teenage murderess on Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After moving to the United States, she built an acting career by playing supporting roles in a range of big-budget and small-scale features, including Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But I'm a Cheerleader (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Abandon, Sweet Home Alabama (both 2002), Shattered Glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006), Away We Go, Up in the Air, The Informant!, Leaves of Grass (all 2009), Win Win (2011) and Seeking a Friend for the end of the World, The Perks of Being a Wallflower (both 2012) Then They Came Together (2014) and Don't look Up (2021). Lynskey was nominated for the Gotham Award as Breakthrough Performer and received acclaim from critics for her performance as a divorced, depressed woman in Hello I Must be Going (2012). It was a turning point in her career. Her subsequent lead roles include Happy Christmas and We'll Never Have Paris (all 2014), The Intervention (all 2016), Rainbow Time, Little Boxes I'm Not At In This World Anymore (both 2017), Lady of the Manor (2021), Sadie (2018) Sadie (2018), and Lady of the Manor (both 2018) established her as an influential person in the American independent movie community. Lynskey's role as Rose on CBS The sitcom Two and a Half Men (1903-2015) was a huge hit. She was the star of Togetherness from 2015-2016, where she was nominated by Critics' Choice Television Awards as the best Supporting Actress. She provided the voices of Beatrice for Cartoon Network's Over the Garden Wall (2014) and Megan for Disney XD's Future-Worm! (2016-2018). The actress was also the protagonist in Molly Strand, the first season Hulu's Castle Rock (2018). Rosemary Thomson starred in Mrs. America on FX (2020).
