Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff is a French actress, was born 3 May 1986. She studied at the Cours Florent drama school, Paris. She has been in movies such as Loup 2009, Sleepless Night 2011 and Hacker's Game 2015. She is the Mantis character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017). Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was the child of a Korean mother and a French-Russian father. Her father was a consul of Quebec City, Canada. Eugene Klementieff, a painter was her great-grandfather. Her parents chose the name "Pom" due to the fact that it's like the Korean words for both "spring" and "tiger". Klementieff was in Canada for one year before her family travelled extensively because of her father's job. Prior to making the move to France they lived in Japan as well as on the Ivory Coast. Her father was diagnosed with cancer when she was 5 and her mother was suffering from schizophrenia and could not care for children as a result, and Klementieff was cared for by her paternal uncle and aunt. Her uncle, whom she described as "like [her] second father" died at the age of 18 and her older brother took his own life just seven years after, but this occasion being her birthday. After her uncle's passing, Klementieff attended law school briefly to please her aunt. But she didn't think the path was appealing. She was also an waitress in France and a saleswoman. In the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris, she began acting when she was 19. After she completed her education she was awarded a competition in theater that gave her two years of free tuition with some of the top teachers at the school. Klementieff was the first actress to perform professionally in the independent French film Apres lui (2007). She played the stepdaughter for the protagonist, Catherine Deneuve. Filming the scenes required three days. In one scene, Klementieff was to help push someone down a set of stairs but fell down the steps herself, and director Gael Morel used that scene in the final film. Her debut lead role came in Loup (2009) which is a French film that follows a tribe of reindeer herders living in the Siberian mountains. She was filming in an isolated camp, which was a few hours from the nearest village. There, temperatures dropped to zero.
