Pollyanna McIntosh
Pollyanna McIntosh grew up in Portugal
and Colombia before returning to her birthplace of Scotland, where she first
started performing on stage on stage, at The Edinburgh Festival. She relocated
to London at 16 and quickly became involved with indie filmmaking. Her first
paid gig was working as a stoner in Irvine Welsh's The Acid House (1998). Also,
she was an actor and director in the theatre. In 2004, she moved to Los Angeles
to direct "The Woolgatherer" an original play which Anne Dudek (a
regular guest on Mad Men (2007)/Big Love (2006)) was directed. The play was
praised by critics. In Headspace (2005), she landed her first US film role as
"Stacy", a manipulative person who was a newly-baptized Christian.
Her first film role was in Headspace (2005) as the manipulative born-again
Christian "Thumper Wint". This comedy was written by Heathers (1988).
She was a part of both LA and London, Exam (2009) was her next project,
nominated by BAFTA for Outstanding British Debut and winner of Best Independent
at the Santa Barbara Film Fest, the film's critics said that Pollyanna's
character was "smart, sassy and sexy equally ....the emotional core of the
movie" praised her capacity to find the "emotional
vulnerability" of her supposedly tough and ambitious character. GQ stated
that Pollyanna McIntosh, who is a phenomenal actor, is "extremely
talented". Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it!
), is an South American comedy in which she is the unhappy wife of Trevor Lock,
a Brit comedian. She speaks Spanish throughout the film, that was shot in Peru.
In Burke and Hare (2010), directed by John Landis, she plays Isla Fisher's
bestie with Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Jessica Hynes, Tom Wilkinson and Tim
Curry. Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011), in which she played the lead role , was
praised by critics at Sundance 2011. It also came in top of the New York Times'
readers' top movies poll. In recognition of her performance, she was given
three Best Actress awards, including Total Film's Frightfest Award and Fright
Meter's.
