Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell (born on 25th August 1949) is an American television chef and host. She also was an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She is the host of her own Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and is co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Ann Burrell's Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant chef is a hit with her signature hairstyle and her pumped up personality, provides easy techniques anyone can master. Chef Burrell has worked in some of the top restaurants in New York, studied the cuisine and culture of Italy as well as competed on the Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in the upper reaches of New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for cooking and food from a young age. The Culinary Institute of America sparked her interest in restaurant management after she earned an English/Communications degree at Canisius College Buffalo NY. The student says "I was a huge Culinary Institute of America student. I enjoyed every moment." The Culinary Institute of America was an excellent opportunity to pursue a degree. Following her graduation, Chef Burrell went on to spend one period of time in Italy attending an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners while working at La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria as well as La Bottega del 30 a one-Michelin-starred restaurant in Tuscany. It was during this time that her experience in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate the Italian tradition and philosophy, and this has left an impression on her culinary perspective. Burrell is an ambassador for the celebrity chef of the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board, which helps kids with disabilities. Burrell speaks on her culinary passion, and also shares her experiences in the food world as she frequently travels throughout the US in the roles of speaker and mentor. Anne in all her experience in the kitchen, has declared that it is a privilege to be able to share this passion for life with others.
