ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. They raised her and her sisters, Jeni and Jeri, in the Los Angeles suburb of Diamond Bar. Morgan was an athlete of multiple sports throughout her youth, but she was only introduced to soccer at the age of 14. Morgan joined the Cypress Elite club team and came first in the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. Morgan also finished third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued to refine her skills in soccer at Diamond Bar High School. Morgan was selected as an All-American Athlete by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). She also played in the Olympic Development Division's regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her soccer career at UC Berkeley where she was the California Golden Bears' leading scorer in the first year of her career. She led the team to the NCAA Tournament in four years and also to the second round twice. Morgan was among the four finalists for the Honda Sports Award. She was also the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. After graduating at the beginning of 2010, Morgan was ranked third in all-time goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan was able to manage soccer careers at both the level of the national and college during her education. The first time she was on the Berkeley team, Morgan experienced an ACL injury which barred her from participating in the U.S. under-20 women's soccer team until April. In Mexico, Morgan scored her debut international soccer goal during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Her team took home the gold medal, and she scored her first international goal during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Mexico. One of these was a victory goal against Italy which secured the U.S. team a final place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player of the team and played a key role in helping in the victory over France. Morgan was the youngest player on the team and helped them win against Japan.
